Facilities & access
Parking on a tarmac surface is available at the reception area.
Bike racks are located next to the admissions hut.
There is limited buggy access to Geilston Garden.
- There are level paths to the garden entrance.
- Gravel footpaths lead from the main entrance to both the kitchen garden and walled garden.
- The walled garden is accessible from a narrow iron gate located next to the rose garden. All other entrances into the walled garden have small steps.
- A gravel path is located around the perimeter of the walled garden.
- The kitchen garden can be accessed through the main gate located behind the visitor hut.
- A gravel path runs through the kitchen garden.
- The lower walled garden is not accessible for buggies.
- The narrow garden paths are not suitable for wider buggies or mobility scooters.
The gravel paths in the garden are uneven and sometimes slippery.
The wider grounds and children’s adventure area present some restrictions due to gravel and moss paths, some steps and steep slopes in places.
Children can explore the natural woodland playground, the mini annual flower meadow maze and games on the tennis lawn. Seasonal spotter trails and a garden quiz are also available.
Dogs are welcome at Geilston Garden on all days except Tuesdays, when we ask that dogs do not enter the garden.
Please make sure that dogs are on a leash at all times. They are not permitted into the walled garden, kitchen garden or children’s adventure area.
Information on local dog walks is also available at reception.
Hot and cold drinks from a self-service machine are available from the reception hut, along with a small selection of snacks.
Parking is available next to the reception hut. Parking is free for members.
Picnic benches are available.
Explore the kitchen garden, where carrots, rhubarb, beans, fruit and many other culinary delights are cultivated.
The garden and woodland walks along the Geilston Burn are great for nature enthusiasts.
